Café 100 Wasser

A central Friedrichshain café that offers a nice selection of Italian and Mexican dishes although its good name comes from the brunch buffet they offer every Sunday. Try it; you won’t regret it!

It's Sunday morning, and you are walking through Simon-Dach-Straße, the heart of Friedrichshain; you are hungry and dreaming of a huge table full of sweets, as well as cheese, ham and many other things. Bingo: Café 100 Wasser is the place to go! With more than 50 food items to choose from -coffee and tea are included in the price, which by the way is € 9.50 per person- this is a really nice place to enjoy the ritual Berliner brunch.

Until 4.00 pm you can stuff yourself with all kinds of delicacies: warm dishes come out of the kitchen nonstop, as well as different kinds of salads and other cool meals.

International customers, young and less young people, and families make up the crowd in the café, which certainly creates a good mix of people.

The café is named after the Austrian Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a late 20th century painter and architect. The interior of Café 100 Wasser, with its harlequin walls and decorated glass lamps, gives an odd quality to the place. They take the inspiration from Hundertwasserhaus, an apartment house in Vienna built after Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s ideas and concepts.

If you come with a dog, don't worry: they are allowed to stay with you inside!

When the weather is good is nice to sit outside; they have many tables on the sidewalk of the always on the move Simon-Dach-Straße. Don't forget to reserve a table if you want to be sure you’ll have a seat, otherwise be ready to wait: it can take a while to get a table, especially if you are more than two people.

After your brunch you’ll probably be feeling rather full, so maybe it can be a good idea to take a walk up to Boxhagener Platz, and have a look at the flea market that takes place every Sunday on this square. But if you’re feeling more energetic, and want to see something different, then check out the RAW Flohmarkt in the nearby Revaler Straße. This flea market is a bit less overcrowded than the one on Boxhagener Platz, and it’s sure a cool experience!
