Hudson's Cakes

Hudson's Cakes has closed! When your home turns into a 24-hour bakery, why you not open a café? That's what Hudson's owners thought. Here you can soothe your longing for English cakes and scones.

Hudson's Cakes has closed!

Berlin is an infamously dangerous place: you plan to stay here for some time, while taking a year off work, and before you realize it, you stay forever. That's what happened to Hudson's owners, Jim and Kate (Hudson), who have been already living in Berlin for three years, when they were planning to stay only one. Instead of leaving, they opened Hudson's at the corner of Boppstraße and Schönleinstraße.

When you stand by the counter, struggling to decide what to order, check out the bowler hat lights. Jim used to be a construction engineer, and you can see that in the interior, which is strictly no-nonsense. Particularly eye-catching are the antique scissor lamps on the walls in the main area.

At lunch time there is a soup and sandwich offer for five euros, perfect for people working in the area. You might want to come for a brunch on Sundays. And buy some Hudson's Zapatista Espresso while you're there, which is probably the tastiest way to support the good cause in Mexico.
