The 1960s, mixed with kitsch, are the theme of this café. A bust of Marilyn Monroe and a skull of Elvis Presley. Beach Boys Surfin' Safari is playing in the background. Most guests seem to have a rockabilly style, like the owner himself. Others are students, parents, and business people.
Through the glass bar you see bagels, fruit salad with yogurt, different salads, and cakes. Some of food is vegan, and everything is homemade. A favorite is the Portuguese Pastel de Nata, a tartlet with vanilla curd.
There are not so many seats but at the back of the café there is another room, quite easy to miss. There are also some tables outside.
Every Saturday and Sunday there is an outdoor market at Boxhagener Platz. The Saturday market focuses mostly on food, and on Sunday you will find the traditional flea market. It is fun to visit, regardless of whether you really need something or not.
