A good thing with tapas is that you can order after hunger and taste. However the selection makes one spoilt for choice. Raval has the solution - two preselected plates, cold or warm.

The actor Daniel Brühl (Inglorious Basterds, Good Bye, Lenin) has together with Atilano González open this minimalistic restaurant on Görlitzer Straße. Raval got its name from the area in Barcelona with the same name and has a lot alike with Kreuzberg; many coffee places, bars and clubs and the inhabitants are multicultural.

Like De' Noantri, just opposite Raval, the walls are full with graffiti. A funny detail inside, is the big window, which lets the guests see the preparation of the food and some of the interior the owners found in different flea markets in Barcelona.

On the menu is everything from the classical tortillas and patatas bravas to some less famous dishes like salad made out of cod.The salted almonds and the toasted bread with tomatoes goes perfect as starters. In Spain the tradition is to drink beer with the tapas but the white wine, Isabelino is fresh and suits well with the food. A couple of tapas that are extraordinary good are the juicy tortilla (potatoe omelett), the sea food skewer and the Manchega cheese.

The tapas starts from euro 3,50-4 so if it will be cheap or not is really up to you. The seats around the bar are perfectly made for a quick stop and a quick bite, before you continue exploring the area.
