You can eat the best schnitzel in Berlin at Schwarzwaldstuben. Perfectly fried juicy meat with a crispy breading served with potatoes, and when they are in season, with asparagus and hollandaise sauce.

The mixed crowd (families, young people, and couples) comes for the south German specialties, and drinks the Rothaus brewery's Tannenzäpfle bier from the Black Forest. The big green fireplace together with all the antlers, fake and real ones, give you the feeling of being in a hunting lodge. Over the bar hangs the head of a wild boar with a golden, glittering New Year’s hat on. The kitsch mixed with odd and old furniture, and the classical disco balls somehow create a cozy atmosphere.

The food is rustic and simple: smoked pork chops with French fries and sauerkraut, Käsespätzle (a sort of pasta with cheese), and Flammkuchen, a very thin pizza usually topped with ham, onions, and sour cream. For dessert there is the classical Kaiserschmarrn, a type of pancake, that here is served with almonds and a yogurt cream. The portion is so generous that can be easily shared.

Nearby you can visit Kunsthaus Tacheles, a run-down former department store covered in graffiti that some artists occupied in the 1990s. Today there are several ateliers, galleries and bars in the building.
